Cloves
The unopened flower buds of a tree that belongs to the myrtle family, cloves (lavang) have an aromatic sometimes fiery flavour and an intense fragrance, and are used to flavour many sweet and savoury dishes. Cloves are usually added whole to recipes. Their warm flavour compliments all rich meats, and they need no preparation.
