Mattar Paneer Masala

Centuries ago Paneer cheese was invented by accident in India. A Rajasthan shepherd was travelling across the desert with milk in a camel skin bag but the milk had curdled and compacted into a block with the whey acting as a preservative. He ate the cheese and drank the whey to quench his thirst.
Today Paneer is very popular and essential in a vegetarian diet, it is available in all good Asian grocers or it can be made at home. You can change the combination from peas to spinach, chickpeas, mushrooms or baby potatoes.
Ingredients: Turmeric, Garlic, Ginger, Asafoetida, Chilli, Spices.
