Paretal is a colloquial term, which loosely translates to 'mother is going to cook something quick'. Rafi's in-laws were originally from Kerela and then emigrated to Malaysia in the 1930's, they would regularly say that Mothers off to cook some Paretal and this recipe was one of the family's favourites.

Simple, yet rich combination of tomatoes, coconut and South Indian spices including Curry Leaves. It would generally be cooked with goat or mutton so is ideal with lamb.

Ingredients: * Onions, Vegetable oil, Garlic, Water, Ginger, Wheat flour, Spices, coconut, Raising Agent: Ammonium Bicarbonate, Acidity Regulator Sodium Diacetate, Fresh Chilli, curry leaves, Tamarind, Citric and Acetic Acids. Preservative: Sodium Metabisulphate.
