Dhansak Masala

Dhansak Masala

£4.25

Great with: Lamb or beef — Serves: 4 – 6

A Sunday must for Parsees who fled to India in the 13th century and settled in today's Gujerat state. They adopted the Gujerati language and absorbed some of the Hindu religion into their original Zorastinism. Ladies took to wearing saris whilst the men adopted the Muslim men's outfit.

Dhan = grains and sak = vegetables. These combined with meat and an array of spices is a superb dish served with rice browned with caramelised sugar and fried meatballs (koftas).

This pack will make nearly twice as much food as our standard packs, but any leftovers freeze very well.

Our mixed lentils are the correct amount for this dish.
